Herb Walk

We valiantly set out on our herb walk on Thursday 14th May, but the elements were against us. We walked and stood and talked through a steady drizzle, but it started to rain harder and some members were getting really cold…

New Place dining room was a drier option! We warmed up with hot tea and stewed fruit, and took to Botany to pass the rest of the time. Thankfully, we had picked examples of several medicinal herbs to bring back with us and discuss. Plus we managed to investigate the tiny beauty of lichen through our hand lenses. Lichen as a whole is a useful medicinal ‘plant’, and Usnea in particular is extremely antimicrobial.
