Planning a Herb Garden

The School has been allowed access to a small piece of land a five-minute walk away from the classrooms. Our first-year Pharmacy students have been busy drawing up garden plans and some of them are very ambitious. Last year we sat on the edges of the land and discussed what herbs we wanted, and we grouped them into ‘systems’. When we arrived at a consensus as to what herbs we would like to grow, the students then made their garden plans which we hope to put into practice this spring.

The seeds have been ordered, with a few plants, from Poyntzfield. One thing to remember is that as some nurseries [Poyntzfield included] refrain from treated their seeds with fungicide, it is important not to sow them too early or they may rot away. All we have to do is to refrain our enthusiasm and plant a bit later than we would like.
